As one of the few agents to feature this delightful 'bare-foot' resort on the Florida Keys, we are understandably excited about its potential. Although the resort has been established for a number of years, it has remained undiscovered by many UK visitors to Florida.
Adjacent to Cheeca Lodge (it's well known neighbour), The Moorings is set on a stunning white beach leading in to the warm waters on the Atlantic side of the Florida 'finger' which stretches down towards the Caribbean. Accommodation is in Plantation Style Houses scattered throughout the immaculate grounds. These well kept houses offer a range of accommodation for both couples and families.
The reputable Fodors Guide describes "this delightful oceanfront resort consists of a series of whitewashed cottages, each one a homey, self-contained unit. Located on 18 acres, the cottages are decorated in modest tropical themes, making this a very romantic holiday spot and a great place to get away from it all. Each cottage includes a full kitchen; most have washers and dryers, and a few include CD players and VCRs. Although the resort does not have a restaurant or room service, there are a number of fine restaurants are located within walking distance."
We would add that the property now does have a restaurant, situated overlooking the Gulf side of Islamorada.

"My wife and I have visited the Moorings over 4 times over the last 4 years with our children and grand children, each time more memorable than the previous. The property is hugely photogenic and romantic - a throw back to an earlier Florida, the one I remember growing up as a kid in Miami in the 50's. The Moorings sits right on the beach. We have stayed on cute and well appointed 20's style bungalows and cottages, some with as many as three bedrooms. The entire property sits on white sand, surrounded by coconut trees. When we stay at the Moorings, my wife and I feel that we are in another world, the one of Florida that has not changed. The rooms have all the expected amenities (a/c, radio/ TV/ phones, free videos, kitchen; very clean bathrooms, etc.); the beds and furnishings are comfortable and have a South Seas/ Florida Keys motif. Across the road within walking distance you return to civilization, with several world class restaurants in the immediate area and plenty of amenities in terms of stores and shopping facilities. We will celebrate our 37th Anniversary there this December and will continue to return as long as it remains an oasis of calm and beauty, and a reminder of old Florida and the Keys."
"Everything and everyone was so laid back at this beautiful resort, it was unbelievable in today's fast-paced world. If you've ever wanted to know what it is like living on your own private island, this is probably as close as you can get. Although it is a bit pricey, we highly recommend The Moorings Village and Spa for the most relaxing getaway you've ever experienced."
